CrystalDiskInfo is a Windows utility for viewing storage-device health information. It helps users read model details, temperature, power-on time and S.M.A.R.T. attributes reported by a drive.
CrystalDiskInfo versus CrystalDiskMark
CrystalDiskInfo is about health and diagnostic information. CrystalDiskMark is the separate benchmark utility used to measure storage performance. Similar names can be confusing, but the jobs are different: one reads telemetry, the other tests speed.
What drive types it can report
CrystalDiskInfo can read many internal HDDs, SATA SSDs and NVMe SSDs. It can also read many modern external USB HDDs and SSDs when the USB bridge passes through the needed commands.
- HDD health status, temperature, power-on hours and sector-related attributes.
- SATA SSD health indicators, remaining life and vendor-specific attributes where available.
- NVMe health log fields such as Percentage Used, Available Spare and media errors.
- External USB devices when the enclosure or bridge exposes compatible telemetry.
Platform and controller limits
Current researched information indicates support for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, plus Windows Server versions through Server 2025. Architectures include x86, x64 and ARM64. NVMe support requires Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016 or newer.
Some storage layers can limit visibility. RAID controllers, multi-drive enclosures and certain caching or storage-management layers may hide individual drive telemetry. Most SATA and NVMe controllers are supported, while AMD StoreMI is documented as unsupported.
