Does Good mean my drive cannot fail?

No. Good means CrystalDiskInfo does not currently show a warning based on the telemetry it reads. Drives can still fail suddenly, so important data still needs a real backup.

Does Caution mean my HDD is about to die?

Not necessarily. Caution means one or more warning conditions deserve attention. Protect important data first, then identify the triggering attribute and monitor whether it changes.

Can I reset Caution to Good?

Changing a displayed threshold or clearing a warning in software does not repair the physical drive. If a counter reflects media problems, treat the underlying condition seriously.

Why does CrystalDiskInfo not show my external drive?

External-drive support depends partly on the USB bridge or enclosure. Some bridges pass through S.M.A.R.T. data cleanly, while others hide it or expose only limited fields.

What does 100% SSD health mean?

It usually means the drive is reporting little or no consumed endurance according to its own vendor logic. It is not a guarantee that the SSD cannot fail.

What is Percentage Used?

On NVMe SSDs, Percentage Used is an endurance indicator. It estimates consumed lifetime relative to the device design, but it is not a countdown in days.

What does C7 mean?

C7 is commonly associated with SATA communication errors between the drive and host. The counter is often cumulative, so watch whether it keeps increasing after cable or connection issues are addressed.

Are Power On Hours bad?

A high hour count is not automatically bad. It is context that should be evaluated with health status, relevant S.M.A.R.T. attributes, workload and backups.

Why is the serial number visible?

CrystalDiskInfo can show drive serial numbers. Use its Hide Serial Number option before sharing screenshots publicly.

Does CrystalDiskInfo test drive speed?

CrystalDiskInfo focuses on health and diagnostic telemetry. CrystalDiskMark is the separate benchmarking utility for performance testing.

Does CrystalDiskInfo repair bad sectors?

No. It reports information from the drive and operating system. It does not physically repair media defects.

Does CrystalDiskInfo predict the date a drive will fail?

No. S.M.A.R.T. data can reveal warning signs, but it cannot provide an exact failure date.
